The capital city of Hanoi was a top tourist destination during the 2019 New Year holidays, which spanned from December 29, 2018 to January 1, 2019.
According to the latest statistics released by the Ninh Binh Department of Tourism, the number of tourist arrivals to the province hit an estimated 6.3 million between January and September, up 4.9% compared with the same period last year.
The number of international tourist arrivals to Vietnam in the third quarter of this year increased 14.9 percent against the same period last year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
Vietnam was named among the destinations with the biggest year-over-year increase in international tourist arrivals, according to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO)'s report.
The tourism industry saw a strong start in 2018 as the international tourist arrivals to Vietnam reached over 4.2 million people in the first quarter of the year, an increase of 30.9 percent year on year.
The Ninh Binh provincial Department of Tourism has reported that tourist arrivals to the province are estimated to hit 6 million in the past nine months of 2017 ,expanding by 10.1percent compared to the same period last year.
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) said Vietnam welcomed 8,482,379 international tourists in the first eight months of 2017, up 29.7 per cent from a year earlier. This is a good signal for Vietnam's tourism development. However, this sector is also facing challenges to keep tourist arrivals rising while maintaining service quality.
